Erectile Dysfunction or ED

Erectile dysfunction is when you are unable to get a good enough erection to enable satisfactory sexual intercourse. The condition is very common and ED can occur for a variety of reasons. For younger men, ED is often linked to anxiety due to a lack of experience at having sexual intercourse.
For men in their 50s, ED is more often linked to working too many hours and to stress. For those men in their 70s, ED can become more of an issue due to a deterioration in the blood vessels that supply their penis.

A number of other conditions can also link to ED:

  • Diabetes: This can produce damage to the nervous system that is involved in the process of getting an erection. 30 percent of diabetic men will experience ED
  • Being overweight
  • High blood pressure: This can lead to a deterioration of your blood vessels
  • Prescription drugs: Some of these drugs can cause ED as an unwanted side effect

If you believe that you may be suffering from ED, then speak to your IPSA pharmacist or IPSA physician as prescription medicines are available to help with this condition.
