Chlamydia Screening & Treatment

What is Chlamydia?

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection caused by an organism called Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia can affect both men and women and can have some devastating after effects including increasing the risk of miscarriages in pregnant women, fertility problems, pelvic pains, and increased risk of ectopic pregnancies ( a pregnancy implanted in the tube rather than the womb).

Chlamydia is one of the most common STIs currently and is still on the rise, especially in younger men and women. In the majority of cases, Chlamydia can be present without displaying any obvious symptoms. Identifying Chlamydia is done via a urine test or a swab for both men and women. Treatment is simple and involves a course of antibiotics for you and your partner.

At our clinic we are happy to see you alone or with your current partner to back track your sexual history to able us to offer you the appropriate sexual health screening tests.
