About the Procedure

Before the procedure

You will first have a consultation to find out more about the procedure with an NHS registered GP who will assess your individual case and requirement. Together you will discuss areas you would like to treat and how to best achieve the natural look you want.

IPSA offers a range of treatments including Botox for facial wrinkles, jaw reshaping, tension headaches and hyperhydrosis.

During the initial consultation the doctor with examine the areas you would like treated, discuss options available and come up with a treatment plan based on your suitability and request.

Future appointments will be significantly shorter as the treatment itself takes approximately 10-15 minutes.

During the procedure

You will be sat upright, the areas to be treated will be assessed, marked and cleansed. Icing 5-10 minutes prior to the treatment is often used as it can have the combined effect of inducing numbness and constricting blood vessels hence minimizing the chance of bruising.

The procedure itself is relatively painless. Target areas are marked and minute amounts of botox injected into the problem areas.

Typical injection patterns include about 4 or 5 areas on the forehead and 2 or 3 areas on the lateral aspect of the eye.

More areas can be injected, depending on the type of wrinkles and the desired effect for the patient. The needles used are extremely fine and topical anesthetics are not usually required as it is a somewhat painless procedure but can be provided.

After the Procedure

The procedure itself takes 5-10 minutes. After the injections, the patient will sit upright.

There is no recovery time after the procedure and patients are able to resume day to day activities straight away.
