Microdermabrasion with Diamond Peel at your IPSA skin clinic

Diamond Peel microdermabrasion is a crystal-free type of microdermabrasion. During your Diamond Peel treatment, a diamond-cut state-of-the-art hand-piece that has a sandpaper-type surface is used by your expert IPSA skin specialist to remove any debris and dead skin from the outermost layer of your skin. This leaves you with cleaner, smoother and brighter-looking skin.
During this type of gentle exfoliation, a diamond tip passes over your skin’s surface, creating a mild vacuum. Microdermabrasion works by exfoliating approximately 20 to 25 microns of the dead skin in your stratum corneum (the cells in the outermost skin layer). Once these cells have been removed, the fresher and younger-looking skin underneath is revealed.

Is Diamond Peel microdermabrasion different to regular microdermabrasion?

Unlike the traditional form of crystal microdermabrasion (a technique involving blowing crystals onto your skin and removing them via suction), the Diamond Peel employed by your IPSA skin clinic uses a diamond-cut precision hand-piece to gently exfoliate your skin. With crystal microdermabrasion, there is a risk that some crystals might tear your skin or that some may stay lodged in your skin post-procedure; it can also be a very messy procedure. The Diamond Peel is gentle, safe, effective, clean and does not leave a residue on your skin, allowing you to see exactly the amount of debris and dead skin that has been removed.

What will Diamond Peel microdermabrasion do for my skin?

At your IPSA skin clinic, Diamond Peel is used to gently and safely remove the outer layers of your stratum corneum, alongside any debris such as oil, surface blackheads and dirt. Diamond Peel is an excellent treatment for you if you have dull, dry, flaky or dirty skin, or if you have clogged pores. This dermabrasion technique can also help in improving the appearance of wrinkles and brown spots, and is also employed by your IPSA skin specialist to help clients suffering from mild to moderate acne, as it opens up pores, thus allowing them to breathe.

How many Diamond Peel dermabrasion treatments will I need at my IPSA skin clinic?

IPSA recommends six Diamond Peel treatments spaced 7 to 14 days apart. This type of procedure is progressive in nature and not aggressive. Your results will be most noticeable following your third treatment; however, it is quite common to notice results even after your first Diamond Peel session.

Will there be any side effects from my Diamond Peel treatment?

With Diamond Peel, there is little/no downtime. As this type of microdermabrasion is mild and non-invasive, virtually no side effects occur and it is a risk-free procedure, leaving you with nothing to worry about. Some minor side effects can occur such as a slight tingling sensation, and your skin might feel tighter post-procedure. Your skin might appear to be slightly flushed but this usually fades in just 12 to 24 hours. You might experience flaking or peeling and this is a sign that your cell-renewal process has been stimulated. However, if some flaking does occur, simply use the exfoliant that your IPSA skin specialist recommends at 3 to 4 days post-treatment.

Can Diamond Peel microdermabrasion reduce large pores?

This type of microdermabrasion can reduce large pores as it acts by stimulating collagen production, which is why Diamond Peel is suitable for treating large pores. The in-built vacuum function sucks out any hardened dust, oil and other dirt that may have been clogging your pores. With this treatment, the oil present in the glands reaches your skin’s surface again and your pores are able to return to a natural size and shape.

What skin areas can be treated with Diamond Peel at my IPSA skin clinic?

The most common treatment areas are the neck, face, knees, shoulders and elbows. However, any area of your body can be treated with Diamond Peel at your IPSA skin clinic.
