Period Pains

Some chemicals within your body (specifically, particular prostaglandins) make your womb contract, thus dislodging its lining and starting your period. The resulting contraction is what leads to the majority of pain and discomfort during your period.

A self-heating pad or a hot water bottle placed on your tummy can help to make you more comfortable by alleviating some of this pain. Speak to your IPSA pharmacist to discuss the right painkillers that are suitable for you.
Meanwhile, taking a painkiller containing paracetamol or ibuprofen might help to relieve your period pain symptoms.
